Warren Coalition for Healthier Youth (WCHY)
WCHY MISSION:
The Warren Coalition for Healthy Youth (WCHY) supports community
activities aimed at healthy outcomes & drug & alcohol
free lifestyles for youth.
Our Goals
Create & support community activities that promote
healthy outcomes & drug & alcohol free lifestyles for
youth.
Connect multiple sectors of the community to collaborate
to develop plans & programs to coordinate their anti-drug
effort.
Increase community awareness about the effects of alcohol,
tobacco & other substances.
Support local families & groups in their prevention
efforts.
COALITION HISTORY:
The coalition, formerly the Warren Zero Tolerance Coalition
(WZTC) was originally formed to assist the schools & courts
in providing some intervention strategies & experiences
for first time substance abusers in the communities of Warren
& Center Line. The WZTC was founded through the efforts
of Warren Woods Public Schools, Center Line Public Schools,
Van Dyke Public Schools, Fitzgerald Public Schools, Warren consolidated
Schools, Warren Police Department, Center Line Police Department,
Macomb County Juvenile Courts, local business, churches, &
a variety of civic groups. The WZTC was successful at assisting
the Warren Police Department & participating in the research
effort that lead to the grant given to the PD for implementation
of police liaisons within several school districts.
WCZT changed its focus to a coalition that focused on healthy
lifestyles; henceforth it became the Warren Coalition for a
Healthy Community. More recently the group has undergone a change
in focus with respects to efforts aimed more specifically to
youth. Thus today, we have the Warren Coalition for Healthy
Youth.
TARGET POPULATION:
All youth within the attendance area of Center Line Public Schools,
Fitzgerald Public Schools, Van Dyke Public Schools, Warren Consolidated
& Warren Woods Public Schools as well as several private
schools.
MEETING SCHEDULE:

of every month with the exception of July & December.

for a night of bowling, dancing & fun.
