ACTIVITIES:
SAFE AND SOBER DRIVING CAMPAIGN:
Every year over 2,000 parents of children of driving age are mailed
a brochure and a letter signed by the Superintendent of Utica Schools
and the UCAT President, encouraging them to discuss the responsibilities
of driving with their child. Local police departments also use the
brochure in driver education classes. The brochure, which was developed
by UCAT, addresses driver licensing, drinking and driving and zero
tolerance laws.
UCAT first started the campaign in 1996. In 1998, UCAT received a
Commendable Award from the Michigan School Public Relations Association
for it's Safe and Sober Driving Campaign.
