The MCPC and its ten community coalitions have established
the following two goals for the drug-free communities support
program in Macomb County.
To reduce substance abuse among youth and, over time,
among adults.
To strengthen the Macomb County Prevention Coalition
with the ten community coalitions through collaboration.
The MCPC will advance these goals by concentrating our efforts
in the following areas:
Coalition Building:
The MCPC supports ten local community anti-drug coalitions
with funding and technical assistance.
Public Awareness Campaigns:
The MCPC implemented a student produced public service
announcement campaign encouraging parents to talk to their kids
about the harms of substance abuse.
Youth Mentoring:
The MCPC in cooperation with"Mentor Michigan"
offers a program to train, connect and consult with adults willing
to volunteer their time as mentors to children at risk.
Safe and Drug-Free Schools
The MCPC serves as Macomb's Safe and Drug-Free Schools
Advisory Council to ensure that schools are delivering strong
prevention messages to students.
